Taking an antenna from model to hardware

I designed and simulated a microstrip patch antenna in CST Studio, then fabricated and tested the physical antenna with a network analyzer. Following the design onto the bench made it possible to compare its measured input response with the simulation.

What I evaluated

S-parameters and VSWR provided ways to examine input matching. Radiation behavior was another part of the design evaluation, connecting the antenna’s electromagnetic behavior to the intended communication function.

The work joined electromagnetic modeling, fabrication, and RF measurement in one workflow. It also required interpreting the difference between a simulated design and the response of a physical device.
